New Medical Clinic on the road in Tembisa, Gauteng
We are very happy that we have recently been able to launch a new mobile medical clinic in Tembisa Township. Thanks to our partners Contribute and Philips, Rhiza Babuyile was able to open the 5th clinic of its kind on the road. This is something entirely new for the community. And to get people used to having the mobile clinic and to take the step to visit, we started the outreach program. The mobile clinic will be on the road three times a week in the township and settle there at three different locations. In this way people get used to the idea and increase the accessibility to care and consultation, and it helps us to determine which location is the best place to drive to every day. At night, or when not in use, the facility is parked at our office in Randburg. The services of the clinic are primarily offered to mother and child.
The staff consists of a nurse specializing in maternity care, an assistant and a receptionist who is also the driver. Staff assist female patients with family planning, overall health check, ultrasound scans and cotton buds. The clinic has a crucial role in revealing cervical cancer so that it can be treated on time. Children who come to the clinic receive general health care and checks. We expect to be able to treat 7,500 patients annually. Thanks to our partners, Contribute and Philips for their contribution!
